Redskins prove they can hold a lead

Wow, I started to write them off, once again midway through the 3rd quarter when they were leading 14-0 and the Bears started making miraculous one hand catches and moving the ball down the field. I was definitely wrong. Todd Collins did a phenomenal job coming in off the bench for over 200 yards and 2 scores. What was very impressive was the type of throws he made in the 4th quarter. He threw 3 balls that he fit into a very small window. He did a nice job of hitting different receivers and making some big third down throws. The defense was very impressive, blitzing almost 90% of the time and doing a nice job of single coverage on the outside. Greg Williams commented after the game that he didn't run a zone defense until late in the 4th quarter. The pressure on Griese was great. I believe they held the Bears to just over 30% on 3rd downs as well. The defense has now given up one touchdown in the last 11 quarters. If we can get the offensive output we got tonight, we have a chance to win the last 3 games. But I definitely don't want to get ahead of myself. I'm just happy that tonight they got the job done at home. On a different note, I heard one of my favorite redskins, Randy Thomas gave a pregame speech that was at least R rated but very effective. I like the intensity.
Let's get some rest and get ready for the Giants.

Go Skins!

Sean Taylor laid to rest

Sean Taylor was laid to rest on Monday December 3rd. The entire team was flown down on 3 jets to Miami for the funeral. I heard the ceremony lasted 3 hours. From the snipets I saw, it was a celebration of Sean's life. What a tragic end to a young man that had matured dramatically in the last 2 years both on and off the field. I was impressed with how Daniel Snyder took care of the team and ensured he put money away for Sean's daughter. He handled it beautifully in my view. Sean, you will be missed.

Pray for Sean

After chastising the Redskins for another last minute defeat, it was all put into perspective this morning when I heard about Sean Taylor. Although at times, he has frustrated me with his frequent Unneccesary roughnesss penalties, he has come a long way in the last two seasons and before the injury was on pace to be selected for another pro-bowl. He was having a great season and was absolutely missed in the last two Redskin losses. At the time of this post, it seems that signs are looking up as he has reportedly squeezed the doctors hand and has shown some facial expressions. I am praying for Sean to recover from his injuries. Football is secondary right now as Redskins fans from all over the country are praying for Sean and his family.

I should be very thankful but.....
